Just like audio, video also is of two types; analog and digital. Digital video is a series of images whose information is stored in digital bits; and they can be played on computers. Video capture cards convert analog signal to digital signal. They have input jacks to capture analog video and convert the video to a digital form. Analog video that is captured could be of any format; e.g. the North American (NTSC) standard and the European (PAL) standard.
Requirements for Digital video are : .
A video capture card
An audio capture card or built-in audio capture capability
A video display card or accelerator
Video/audio capture and editing software
